JFSA 2012: Dian Harapan go down to first defeat in U14B Championship
There was a highly restricted league program for the league last Saturday as a number of schools started their easter holiday break. The International Sports Club of Indonesia took over as the main venue and hosted 10 Coca-Cola League matches which lifted the number of matches played so far this season to a total 625 yielding a massive 3732 goals. With an average of just under 6 goals per game you have to ask if the defences need more trainning, or maybe it is just that the strikers are just too good.
Lycees Francais consolidated their place at the top of U14B division with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over arch-rivals Dian Harapan School who tumbled to their first defeat of the season. The win and a possible league title puts the French School’s destiny into their own hands who now need to take 6 points from their 2 remaining league games to lift the trophy for the first time. Dian Harapan were well placed throughout the match and could have stolen a late equalizer. However, a resolute french defence stood their ground on the big ISCI field and look favourites from here-on to the end of the season.
Dian Harapan’s U16B division senior side ran-out 4-1 winners over National High Jakarta School and move into second-spot on 16 points. Sekolah Victory Plus still head the table having dropped 4 points so far this season with 2 draws but the game in-hand held by Dian Harapan could still make all the difference and leave them one point ahead at the end of the season if they avoid any slip-ups..
In U12D, mid-table placed Bina Bangsa School defeated Mentari Bintaro 3-1 to move onto 9 points but still out of reach of the leaders Japan School and Binus Nusantara. SD Avicenna from Jagakarsa moved-up to fourth spot with their second win of the season in U10C following an impressive 4-0 victory over Singapore International School Utd. Avicenna have played some attractive football this season and are acquiring good experience to launch a serious challenge next year.
The league championship title is now reaching a real climax in the youngest section of the league where in U8C high-flying Dian Harapan School overcame a plucky PSKD Mentari side 3-0 to make it 6 wins from 6 alongside The Netherlands International School on the same record. The 2 sides meet on April 21st at the STB-ACS venue in a much awaited winner takes all encounter for the league championship.
The will be a full programme of fixtures next week at BIS so please check the fixture information to make sure that you do not miss any matches. This is not a good time to drop 3 points by being a no-show and receiving a warning from the league. To reiterate the leagues standing rule, 2 no-shows equals expulsion form the rest of the season and a possible loss of an invitation to participate next year.
